New Cornflower Queen and her Court named at German Day 2002
Northeast Philadelphia ¾On June 23, 2002, the German - American Community of Philadelphia and Vicinity celebrated German - American Day 2002 on the grounds of the Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein. This event sponsored by the Steuben Day Observance Association of Philadelphia and Vicinity was attended by approximately 1500 guests. Proceeds of the event help defray the cost of the annual Steuben Parade held to commemorate the accomplishments of General Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben in the American Revolutionary War. This year's parade will be held on September 28, 2002. The highlight of the day's events was the crowning of the new Cornflower Queen and her Court. The Cornflower Queen represents the German - American Community of Philadelphia at various local events and overseas. This year's Court is comprised of: Ms. Vera Stroutinsky, Miss German America of Philadelphia; Ms. Sara Carter, First Princess; and Ms. Jasmine Bella, Second Princess.
