The Association is proud to introduce its 2014-2015 Cornflower Court  which was named during this year's German Day celebration. This year's Court consists of: Miss Luise Martini, Miss German - America of Philadelphia; Miss Danika Gottbrecht, 1st Princess; Miss Brittany Mann, 2nd Princess; and Miss Mary Shustack, Miss Kolping. Please join us in congratulating them on their achievement. They will be representing our community for the next 12 months.


German Day 2014

Mark your calendars and come out to support the 2014 German - American Steuben parade by attending this year's German Day celebration on 22 June 2014. This years event will be hosted by the Vereinigung Erzgebirge in Warminster, Pennsylvania. We will be commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. We need your assistance! The 2014 Donation Drive is underway. As a non-profit organization, we are reliant on your financial assistance to keep our tradition alive. It gets harder every year to continue to fund our parade, provide scholarships to our Cornflower Court, and for our unique treasure - the Tri-Centennial Bike. 2014 Miss German-America Competition

The Miss German-America of Philadelphia contest is underway. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 by 22 June 2014, single, and an American citizen or a legal resident alien who has lived in the United States for at least 2 years. General knowledge of the German language is helpful, but not required. Interested persons must be able to attend German Day on 22 June 2014 for the competition and crowning, as well as appear at various German American functions throughout the 2014-2015 year. Prizes include but are not limited to: $1000 scholarship and the title of Miss German-America of Philadelphia; $500 scholarship for the first runner-up and the title of Princess; and $250 scholarship for the second runner-up and the title of Princess.  Complete details can be found by clicking on the Application link below. The Association is in debt to a number folks as a result of this year's parade. Without these people we would not have been able to have another successful parade. The Association would like to thank, Colonel John J. Ziegler, III, who served as our Grand Marshal; the Blasorchester TV Jahn Bockum, our special friends from Germany who supplied music throughout our parade; our members that participated in our parade by marching; and our spectators that reward our participants.

We hope to see all of you once again next year at German Day and our Parade.

43rd German - American Steuben Parade

The Association is putting on the final touches for this year's 43rd Annual German - American Parade. Please join us as we welcome back our friends from Germany,  the Blasorchester TV Jahn Bockum for their 10th time. We are preparing a full weekend of activities.

  • On Friday evening, we will be holding our Annual Gala Fundraising Banquet. Click here for further information.
  • On Saturday, at 10:00 AM we will having our Ecumenical Church Service. Following at 12 Noon we will be holding our Parade.

The Bayerischer Volksfest Verein will have it's annual Oktoberfest on the grounds of the United German Hungarian Club immediately after the parade and on Sunday.

Colonel John J. Ziegler III, 2014 Grand Marshal

The Steuben Day Observance Association is proud to announce that Colonel John J. Ziegler III will be the Grand Marshal of the 43rd Annual German - American Steuben Parade to be held on Saturday, 28 September 2013. Colonel John J. Ziegler III, a Special Agent with the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI). He was born in Maple Glen, PA, and has extended family members throughout Lancaster and Allentown, PA. Upon graduation from the US Air Force Academy, he was commissioned in 1986 and assigned to Ramstein Air Base, Germany. For further details, click on the Read More link below.
