We are partnering with the German American Day Committee to commemorate the 325th anniversary of the arrival of the first group of German-speaking settlers - thirteen families from Krefeld, Germany - in America. They arrived in Philadelphia aboard the Concord, considered the "Mayflower of German immigration" on October 6, 1683 and founded Germantown, the first permanent German settlement in America. Through this first gateway, as well as others, approximately 8,000,000 inhabitants followed.

SAVE THE DATES! Between September 27, 2008 and October 6, 2008, plans are in the works to make Philadelphia a German Town. For further information and a complete schedule of events, visit http://www.germanamericanday.org.
